Yet another metformin derivatives paper out

We recently get acceptance also with one of our metformin derivative papers that was mainly carried out by our great collaborator, Magdalena in Poland. In this paper, published in International Journal of Pharmaceutics, we have studied anti-hyperglycemic and anti-coagulation properties of metformin derivatives that we, well mainly Tiina, the technician has synthesized. Based on the results we gain, we now understand more how the structural changes in metformin scaffold affect each desired property. So good to continue the work from here.

I also realized that all our 3 M.Sc. students have now finished their lab work and all of them are writing their theses. So thank you one more time Sofia, Ella, and Mira for your great contribution in our group. Hopefully, we can turn your results also soon into publications!

Another review for this year!

Things happens at the same time and I was also participating to another review article, which is also out to be read now, published in a journal called "Neurotherapeutics":

In this paper, we collectively introduce all the attempts that have been made to deliver drugs and therapeutics into the brain, highlight the most successful approaches and propose what else can still be done to have even more success and more effective and safer drug from brain diseases in the future. The corresponding author Magdalena and her students did a great job with the text, but I must admit the figures that Santosh and Sreelatha drew were absolutely great additions and definitely they increase the understanding of the readers of the different drug delivery approaches into the brain.

Tahko Ski Lift Pitch

We are slowly getting back to some kind of normal and thus Tahko Ski Lift Pitch was organized after 2 years break due to COVID-19 pandemic. According to the organizers, there wasn't as many participants as last time, but it was nice to meet and discuss with people face-to-face, and enjoy the atmosphere. Let alone, all the great pitches, from which I was able to learn a lot! What kind of things works in 3 min speech and what doesn't... And for me, the best part was to enjoy the ski slopes that were in the perfect condition!
