New ERASMUS students in house

Welcome Moritz, Ana, and Judith (number #2), our new ERASMUS students from Vienna, Lisbon, and Pretoria, respectively! Moritz has actually the background in biotechnology, so I'm thrilled to see how our roads will cross during the spring with bioanalytical studies of several different compounds. Ana, instead, with a Pharmacy background, is working in the synthesis lab producing (hopefully) new PP2A activators for us for further testing, and Judith (#2), also a biotech and pharmacy mix-background, came here with her own project, analysis of vitamins from her local samples. So, I'm looking forward to seeing what all we can achieve with these new members during this spring!

NBBN Meeting in Copenhagen

Me, Janne, and Adela were attending the 8th Nordic Brain Barrier Network (NBBN) symposium last week in Copenhagen. It was a great event and lovely to see our old friends and make new connections, hopefully something that can benefit Janne in the future. Adela had a wonderful speech on her creatine - SMVT (sodium-dependent multivitamin transporter) project, while I was presenting collectively our OATP (organic anion transporting polypeptide) story, results made by so many people. So thank you for providing me with the materials! It was a proud moment, although I know there is still a lot to be done!

Happy and Very Successful Year!

New year and new semester has begun, and at least for me, it means new tasks and a job description. I have started as the Head of Specialization Field in Pharmaceutical Chemistry, which means more administrative and organizing work with teaching, but the thing that I will probably enjoy the most is the possibility to develop the teaching and supervision in our study discipline. It also means more interaction with the 4th and 5th year Master's Students, but also with all our teachers and supervisors.

In the beginning of the year, we will also have the Nordic Blood-brain Barrier Network Meeting, this time in Copenhagen, and I'm looking forward that! 😎 I wish a great and successful semester and new year for everyone!
