Busy June!

I probably have posted before that June is one of the most hectic months due to the fact that all the events are needed to be held in June before our holiday season, and in Finland that is one of the most beautiful times of the year due to the long days and nights. So we started with the FinPharmaNet Annual Meeting, which was this year held by the University of Helsinki and in Helsinki-Stockholm cruise ship on 4-5.6.2025. From our team, Adela was selected to have a presentation and she did a great job as she won the presentation prize, so congratulations, Adela!

I would have loved to go there as well, but at the same time I hosted my colleague Julie from the Auckland Cancer Society Research Centre (New Zealand), who visited Finland and Kuopio for the very first time. At the same time, we were having the Conferment Ceremony (doctoral promotion) at the UEF, and we were also celebrating our well-known friend, Professor Emeritus Sven Frøkjær​ from the University of Copenhagen to being appointed as a Honorary Doctor in Pharmacy. Next week, we will have 12th pan-European Science Conference on QbD & PAT in Kuopio. So the list goes on and on... 😎

Janne's Great Day!

Yesterday, we had a special day when Janne defended his Ph.D. thesis. The invited opponent was Research Director of Translational DMPK, Dr. Christoffer Bundgaard, from Lundbeck (Denmark), and we all witnessed a very nice over 2-hour discussion between 2 experts in the field. After the public examination, also a traditional evening dinner party, Karonkka followed, in which we heard nice speeches, but Janne also had to do his final experiment, the escape room called "The Scientist's Challenge. So job well done, Janne, Congratulations! 🌹

 

Congratulations, Hamed!

Finally, it was officially announced, Hamed got a grant from the Northern Savo Regional Fund! This was a great surprise and amazing news for us, so congratulations Hamed! I believe now that you will defend your Ph.D. thesis in 2026! The UEF press release can be found here (link) (in Finnish, unfortunately). And more about the very interesting results related to this project and topic will be posted a bit later, since it has led to at least 3 manuscripts that were are currently writing.
